ChowpattyCulture –  Lessons Learned and Tips for Aspiring Food Entrepreneurs

As it is said that “Good food is the foundation of genuine happiness” many people may not believe it but those who do, know very well that food is happiness. 

Just imagine you are having a bad day and somebody brings your favorite food. Delicious cupcakes, pastries, a plate full of paneer masala, chole kulche , cheese grilled sandwiches, pizza and whatever you like (these are just my favs) O My God imagine it, just pure bliss. Will you focus on being sad rather than enjoying your yummy food? 

Obviously not, you will go with eating. That is the power of Food. It can change your mood in just a few seconds.

Today we are having our own website and even our offline chowpatty on the streets of toronto. Our food is winning the hearts of many people in the Beaches of Toronto. 

Our Business is growing day by day. 

But there are many mistakes that we made. There were many downfalls that we faced. 

In this blog post we are sharing some of them with you that you must avoid before starting your business as a restaurant or cafe owner. 

1. Plan Before You Start 

Don’t just start with an idea. You will start today and after 15 days you will stop and find yourself confused about what to do next. Do proper planning before starting anything. A Roadmap is a must. 

Either it is about making a website or the payment mode. About the chef that will cook your food or the staff that will serve. Decide everything and prepare a plan. Also know your budget, don’t make any impulsive decisions. Use your money wisely. Remember that it is just the start and you are investing in it. 

2. Don’t Bound Yourself In Trying Out New Things

This is the biggest mistake we made, when we started our service we were just providing offline service. Lately we realized that most of the customers wanted us to deliver their food online or to cater for them Like for birthday parties or events. 

That is when we hired the best web development company and got our website ready within 7 days.  And after that you will not believe it, Our orders got 5 times higher than usual. So this is the best advice that you will hear today – go have a website for your business.

3. Make Your Content Ready Accordingly 

Don’t wait for your website to be completed. Start preparing your content. We usually wait for the website to be completed and then add content in it, but that is not the right approach. When my website started building , my developer advised me that I should prepare my content. 

And for the initial stage they need something to put on the website so that the designers can design the layout properly. They used some Dummy content for some days then I gave them the real content before even publishing our website. After publishing our website we ranked at the 2nd page of Google on the third day itself.

4. Follow The Guidelines 

Remember to have a privacy policy and a refund policy. These days there are very strict policies of search engines like google. So to avoid any mishaps take proper precautions beforehand. Your privacy policy should easily comply with all the laws about data collection that you are collecting from users, about children etc. 

And a good refund policy that should state about the refund that you allow for customers. These two are important if you are providing service or a product based company. 

5. Have patience 

Don’t rush with the process. Take it slowly. Things do take time. If you are not seeing profit in the starting days don’t feel demotivated. Keep doing your karma and you will see the profits coming to you in just a few days. 

Don’t use any wrong methods to finish your work, everything takes time. Remember consistency, hardwork and patience will help you achieve everything in life.  

So these are the learnings that I wanted to share with you. Trust me if you follow these , you will achieve your goals much earlier than expected. Because these are the core tips that you will never receive from anywhere. Go get that damn work done and start your business today.
